After screen appearances in Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Three Colours White, Julie Delpy again proves she’s a serious talent, but this time in her own right as she stars, directs, writes and provides the music for this playful comedy which shows off her wicked sense of humour and a real understanding of relationships. The set-up is walk-and-talk intimacy, following a couple, she a Parisian, he a New Yorker, as they spend a weekend in her home town. However, it’s a little while before these two lovers become a pleasure and wonderful company. Delpy’s lines are witty, a little vulgar, but most of all real. It’s impossible not to like these characters and Delpy is admirably unbiased in poking fun at both peoples – Americans are ignorant and repressed, the French are racist snobs – but she saves her best insights for male/female relationships. Stori garu dau, hi o Baris, yntau o Efrog Newydd. Mae’r ddau’n dod i fwynhau cwmni ei gilydd ond hefyd mae’r ffilm yn ddathliad hapus o wahaniaethau rhwng cenhedloedd a rhwng y ddau ryw. (101′)
