After the excellent Lantana, Jindabyne offers Australian Director Ray Lawrence another opportunity to explore the grey areas between right and wrong as he puts Stewart (Gabriel Byrne) and Claire (Laura Linney) under scrutiny as a married couple rocked by the discovery of a dead Aboriginal girl on a men’s fishing trip. Claire’s determination to uncover the truth makes for a quietly riveting detective story, probing the mysterious workings of the human heart and plumbing rarely explored depths.
