(15) John Hillcoat | 2009 | 112’ | Cast | Awards
A frighteningly convincing view of a possible future, meticulous in creating its visceral beauty and horror, this brilliantly directed adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel stars Viggo Mortensen as an unnamed man traveling with his young son through a post-apocalyptic landscape. Man and boy head towards the coast, not knowing what, if anything, awaits them there, but trying to keep alive the idea of goodness and civilization in a world where survival is a daily struggle. As the world around them is dying, what endures is the love between father and son, and a final, tender affirmation of hope.
Ffilm sydd wedi ei gosod mewn tirwedd ôl-apocolyptaidd sy’n dangos dyfodol posibl brawychus o argyhoeddiadol. Viggo Mortensen sy’n chwarae rhan dyn sy’n teithio gyda’i fab tuag at yr arfordir, heb wybod beth, os unrhyw beth, sydd yn eu disgwyl yno. Tra bod y byd o’u cwmpas yn marw, yr hyn sy’n parhau yw cariad tad a mab, a chadarnhad terfynol tyner o obaith.
“Hillcoat’s vision is forthright and brutal” The Times
